We are the HO Modular Group, representing the 4th Division, Pacific Northwest Region of the National Model Railroad Association. Quite a mouthful, right? In truth, we’re a bunch of folks who really love trains, both model ones and real-life versions. We get together once a month to meet and share that love of trains, and we participate in a number of model train shows here in the Northwest every year.
How do we do that?
Members build modules, a portable section of table-type structure, which can be assembled with similar modules to form large (sometimes VERY large) fully operating model railroads. Modules are built to a set of standards established by the Group that allows each unit to interface exactly with other units anywhere in the overall system. A module may be a single unit or a group of units which must be capable of interface at each end. The Group owns and maintains common modules, including corners, bridges, and yards that make the layout more fun.
Our members live all over the Puget Sound area, from well north of Seattle to points south of Tacoma. We do not have a permanent home for the layout between shows, so it resides in homes, garages and trailers between shows.
Please enjoy looking through our website. We’d hope that this site might get you interested in joining us for the fun we have. Whether you’re a veteran modeler, a complete beginner, or somewhere in between, we promise we’ll help you find a way to enjoy this great hobby to the fullest.
